November 9, 2009 Morning Forecast

Rain is back in the forecast here in Starkville, and it is associated with tropical weather this time around. Hurricane Ida will finally impact the mainland United States sometime this evening, bringing a good amount of rain, especially for our friends closer to the coast. The good news is that Ida is a weakening storm, and the impact on our weather will be short-lived at worst.

Expect rain today sometime in the late afternoon or early evening, becoming heavy. The rain will continue until Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, we could see the highest winds of the week, with gusts reaching 15-20 mph. Rainfall amounts around Starkville and our immediate surroundings could total an inch and a half when all is said and done.

I am happy to report that once Ida's influence leaves our area on Tuesday night, we have a good-looking rest of the week ahead of us with highs in the upper 60s and plenty of sunshine.
